Top Features - Tutorial For Adobe Photoshop CS3

With every new version, Adobe  Photoshop  continuously challenges itself creatively to provide the ease, flexibility and powerful image editing capabilities to bring the best out of a cozy family gathering or professional shoots for movies and television or photos and imagery used in professions like architecture or scientific research. With its streamlined workflow and new editing capabilities,  Photoshop  CS3 is a result of such brainstorming. Here is a summary of some of the most outstanding features and functions of this version of the world leading digital imagery software.

Photoshop  CS3 has introduced advanced alignment and blending options that are especially useful in scenarios where the user has a taken a series of unsuccessful shots of the same spot or while trying to create a panoramic picture. The advanced alignment and blending functionality of  Photoshop  CS3 carefully analyzes the stack of pictures, finds out objects that are permanent after moving and rotating them to find out the overlapping parts, checks if any of the objects are hidden partially or completely in any of the pictures and borrows pixels from the other series of pictures to create one single complete accurate picture. The software also provides “fuzziness” sliders that allow the user to delete objects if they are below a specific percentage in the stack of images. Finally, the automatic layer blending option provides an appropriate color and tone for the final picture. While this could be achieved in the previous versions of the software, it was quite a cumbersome and time and effort consuming task.

Photoshop  CS3 has come up with smart, non-destructive filters that allow the user to continuously re-edit an image using filters and effects while saving each layer.

In the earlier versions of  Photoshop , users were limited to working with 90 degree right angles while using the Vanishing point feature. In this version of software,  Photoshop  has taken the Vanishing point feature a step ahead by providing different, adjustable angles on multiple planes.

Editing and enhancing specific areas of the image is no longer a pain with  Photoshop  CS3. The Quick selection tool in this version of the software, the user can paint the general area and choose your selection by using the modifier keys. The Refine Edge feature allows you to modify the edges of your image with controls in the form of a slide.

To optimize the user’s efforts and time,  Photoshop  CS3 has come up with a streamlined workspace. All tools in the Tool palette come in a single column and other palettes can be minimized or maximized or collapsed using the Tab button. You can save your workspace as a preset or use the software in-built presets targeting specific tasks.

Photoshop  CS3 also comes with the Adobe Camera Raw that can process raw images from your digital camera. It also comes with an enhanced clone and heal feature, better vibrance tool and support for over 150 camera models. Other features that are worth exploring include the Merge to 32-bit HDR, Black & White conversion and Zoomify export.
