Adobe Photoshop Tutorials

Probably the market leader, and almost certainly the best-known program for creating, manipulating and editing images and bitmaps, is Adobe Photoshop. The program began development in the late 1980s, and was first released to the public in 1990 in a version for the Apple Macintosh computer. Photoshop has of course subsequently been through numerous upgrades and improvements (at least 10 major releases), and is today available for both the Apple Macintosh and computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system.

The program is based around the concept of layers. These allow you to easily edit images, and composite or blend multiple images together. The program is also capable of reading and writing a huge variety of file formats (including both raster and vector formats), and works with a variety of color models including RGB, grayscale, CMYK and duotone. As you might expect, Photoshop interoperates very well with other design software, especially softwar by Adobe Systems Incorporated.

Adobe Photoshop is an extremely well thought-out program, with a clean user interface. However, beneath that user interface there is a lot of complexity – both because of the range of features available, and because many Photoshop novices do not have extensive previous experience in the world and terminology of graphic design. It is for this reason, that beginners to Photoshop can often greatly benefit from training and tutorials. A variety of Photoshop tutorial web sites, software training packages and, of course, Photoshop books, are available. These types of resources really can help you master Photoshop incredibly quickly!
